AI is going to KILL US ALL!!

It's all over the news. Hard to miss. We've got maybe 10 years left before the robots take over. At least that's what a few whistleblowers from Anthropic and OpenAI predict.
Here's my quick take on it from what I've gathered. Of course, our commander in chief disagrees and says this is the "Golden Age". He, of course, has many investments tied directly to AI, so it's understandable he's going to lead with his bank account first. What I don't get though is as we reached this crossroads, Congress was told to go home till after the midterms. GAH! Much like artificial intelligence, our governing "system" is broken. Instead of a Kill Switch though, they need a "Get to Work" button.
I do believe AI will calm down in the coming months. We've used just a small bit of AI in our socials and usually get a few comments about using AI "crap". But we digress. If you use it as a tool instead of a catch all, then I think we may be ok. The problem though is AI is integrated into just about everything now. And each use gathers more personal information.
Every platform, every app, every phone with the little star icon

that starts the engines.
Folks like us here at Fine Tune should be scared though. Much like after the Pandemic, there may be an influx of new players on the horizon as Web design, graphic design, social media management have become stupid easy to navigate. Here's the problem: Can it setup your Google Business account and manage it? Can it create emotional stories that tug at the heartstrings? Can it look and feel real? The answer is no....now. But much like other major technological advancements, it will get better, but we, as a society have to use it sparingly. I look at it as the CD versus vinyl. Eventually, people prefer the classics on wax. But damn you, Spotify. It's pretty incredible that we have access to millions of songs on my phone-passed through my high def ear buds through Bluetooth and, well, my walks have much more spunk to them.
As for the purists that refuse to even look, speak of, use AI and curse it at every turn, SHUDDUP!! Unfollow, move on through the scroll and you be you. I just watched a documentary this past week with mixed reviews on it. Some say this is the best time EVER to be alive. I agree. Although my 15 year old self might disagree. The 80's were so cool.
But the technology today has made our lives easier, no doubt. And while I find myself using AI a few times a week, I realize that if we establish guardrails to the systems in place, and regulate it, we'll survive the appocolypse -even the CEOs of these companies that created AI are asking for regulation. That speaks volumns right there. The problem though, at least what I see in my daily life is that this creates even more screen junkies who refuse to put down their phone for a second. A bunch of Zombies walking through crosswalks paying little or no attention to their surroundings. THAT, more than AI will surely kill us first.
